Today I got some of the sketches Marci is making for "How to Draw a Picture of a Bird Day." Oh, boy, oh boy! are we going to have fun! Did you look on your Nicker Calendar to see when this is? It's coming soon. Hmmm, maybe you'll want to get some paper and practice a little.

Gus Sings with the Nickazoos!

Here it is at last! It's "Walk in the Park Day!"
Gus just loves kazoos. Ashley, Destiny and Dylan came by for a visit, and soon we had a 4-Kazoo Koncert going on, with Gus singing along in harmony.

Ashley has asked me to write a story about Gus and Mabel. (They are my two dogs.) I’ll do that one day soon. For now …. You know about the new Nickazoo kazoos that Marci painted for “Walk in the Park Day.” Gus and Mabel know about them, too. BOY, do they know about them. We were having a kazoo party in the kitchen. Gus joined in. He was singing and barking and whacking his tail against the cupboards like they were a big drum. Mabel came in and was dancing. If you’ve never seen Mabel dance, you’ve missed something. She hops up and down and back and forth and twists and turns.

Spring IS Coming

Here in the Arizona desert, Gordie is already out each day munching and grazing. This afternoon I got this photo of him taking a nap beneath a desert bottle-brush bush in the yard. Yes, this IS the desert! Did you expect endless sand dunes?

Well, you have to admit ... I have been TELLING YOU to get ready for our "Walk in the Park" issue this coming week. I meant it! Look what I have for it. The first ever, REAL Nickazoos!

I got some GREAT news today.
First ... you know about the Walk in the Park issue that is coming next week. And you know that Captain Kazoo is coming for another visit, and a PARADE. Be sure you get your friends, relatives, neighbors ... and KAZOOS ready.
But, there will be an extra special surprise! Actually, there will be TWO special surprises. I was told just today that BOTH are on the way! The Captain knows about one of them. The other ... even HE will have to wait. And so will you.
Second ... you all know that the artist for Nicker is Marci. Well, the issue of Nicker Stories for April 8 falls right on "Draw a Bird Day," and she has said that she might be able to teach us her MarciMethod on how to draw birds!
We have a lot to do. YOU have a lot to do!
Oh, and don't forget that Easter is coming, too!

The next issue of Nicker Stories is being put together right now. We're going to have a parade, so get your friends, and your kazoos, because Captain Kazoo will be there to lead the parade. You sure don't want to miss that!

Nicker just told me that Dylan was asking a question about the stories in the archive. It wasn't the first time I have been asked, so now I will answer.
If you go to Story Hour, at the top and again at the bottom, you can click and get a list of all the stories! It works this way. A new story goes up with each issue (and other good stuff, too). The story from the last issue goes into this archive. Just click and the list will come up.
Start at the top and go down. Start at the bottom and go up. Start in the middle and go up and down. It doesn't matter. Any order at all is okay. Just enjoy, and have some fun.
There! Now you have an answer to your question, Dylan.
And maybe one day ... hmmm ... Nicker has been France to have cotton candy with Tess. He went to Wisconsin to visit Carsten in the cranberry marsh. Nicker went to see Florence where Ashley and Destiny live. Dylan ... you live very close to Nicker!
Maybe you can get together and hide Easter Peanuts?
I bet if you ask Aunt Cindy nicely, you can get a FREE Nicker Sticker! Ashley and Destiny have some, and Nicker Posters.

Winter is finally coming to an end. Before you know it, the time for swimming will be back. For Nicker ... well, he is a sea dragon, and you know what means. Why, last Christmas there was Nicker, and Simon, in frozen lake to help Santa get free of the ice. (If you missed the story, just go to "Story Hour" and look in the archive - a fancy word for library, sorta.) Cold water doesn't bother sea dragons much.
One of Nicker's friend is Dylan. He loves to swim. But Dylan is a human boy. I bet HE is looking at the water in the pool, just waiting for it to be warm enough. I wonder ... is Dylan thinking about how nice it will be to go swimming with Nicker?

It has been a very busy week. Even so, Nicker found time to visit one of his favorite places, and two of his favorite people - Ashley and Destiny. He says ...

What do you see here?
It's just a fungus (like a mushroom - sorta) growing on a tree. But what else can you see? What if you were nail that to the end of a fat branch? What it you put a couple of smaller branches? Ya know, with just a bit of imagination ... darned if that doesn't look like the tail of a turkey!

It's March (hup two ...) and that means it is Crafts Month.
Did you get your free Nicker Calendar page for March? If you have, tomorrow is "If Pets Had Thumbs" day. Nicker has a hard time with this one. He doesn't even have hands or arms! Even so, yesterday he was pretending to have thumbs. Believe me, that was wonderfully silly!
While you imagine if your pet had thumbs ... imagine if YOU DIDN'T!
Try it. Try to go through a day, or even an hour, without using your thumbs.
